How ForgeGether works
Feature-based guidance instead of release-history notes.
Members
Forges and Discovery
Discovery only shows Forges that are intentionally public and discoverable. Joining a Forge gives access only to that Forge. Private Forge content is not searched or exposed outside its access boundary.
Profiles and Forged Friends
Your WordPress account is your ForgeGether account. Forged Friends are social connections; friendship does not grant access to another person’s private Forge.
Community, Classroom, Events, Resources and Forge Tools
After joining a Forge, use Community for conversation, Classroom for structured lessons, Events for scheduled sessions and RSVP, Resources for shared links and files, and Tools for calculators, trackers, journals and reference libraries selected by Forge staff. Tool history is private to the member unless a Forge staff workflow explicitly displays member progress.
Pro Forge Chat
Pro Forges include a Forge-wide Chat room. Chat is not a private message: every current member of that Forge can read the room. Chat history is saved by default so members can catch up later. Authors and Forge staff can remove messages, and a specific chat message can be reported for platform moderation.
Activity and messages
The Activity Center collects notices that matter to you. Direct messages stay private; platform moderation is designed around reports rather than unrestricted message browsing.
Forge Owners and Forge Moderators
What Forge staff can manage
Forge Owners and Forge Moderators can manage the content and membership of their own Forge. Those permissions do not become platform-wide Administrator permissions.
Announcements and moderation
Forge staff can publish official updates and moderate content within their Forge. Site-level abuse reports are handled separately by Site Moderators and Administrators.
Choosing Forge Tools
Open Manage → Forge Tools to choose from the platform Tool Library. Administrators can turn a tool off platform-wide; Forge staff can only choose among tools the Administrator left available. Reference-library tools let Forge staff publish cards for their own members.
Moderating Pro Forge Chat
Pro Forge owners and moderators can remove messages from their own Forge Chat. That does not grant access to other Forges or to unrelated private messages.
WooCommerce subscription billing
When the WordPress site uses the WooCommerce subscription bridge, WooCommerce controls the paid Forge entitlement. Active and Pending Cancellation subscriptions keep the Forge active. On Hold, Cancelled or Expired subscriptions restrict the paid Forge without deleting its community data.
Site Moderators
Platform moderation
The ForgeGether Site Moderator WordPress role can review ForgeGether reports. It does not receive WordPress Administrator settings or automatic access to unrelated private Forge content.
Administrators
WordPress-native administration
Use WordPress Admin → ForgeGether to create Forges, assign owners, review reports, adjust appearance, and manage ForgeGether settings. WordPress remains responsible for accounts, authentication, uploads, and the underlying MySQL/MariaDB connection.
Ember atmosphere
Appearance settings let you turn the ember background on or off and tune intensity, density, speed and phone behavior. Reduced-motion preferences disable moving embers automatically.
Forge Tool Library
Use WordPress Admin → ForgeGether → Forge Tools to control the imported Tool Library platform-wide. The WordPress edition includes the standalone calculators, trackers, journals and reference-library definitions; Forge staff choose the subset used inside each Forge.
Pro Forge Chat retention
Forge Chat is available only to Pro Forges. Chat history is kept by default. WordPress Admin → ForgeGether → Settings can optionally set a retention period so older chat messages are removed automatically.
WooCommerce Subscriptions
Use ForgeGether → Subscriptions to map WooCommerce subscription products to Forge or Pro Forge. WooCommerce owns pricing, checkout, payment gateways, coupons, taxes, renewals and cancellation dates; ForgeGether only mirrors entitlement status.
